Catalogue from the Exhibition of Archaeological Finds from Han Tombs at Guangzhou and Hong Kong, jointly organized by the Guangzhou Museum and the Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The exhibits contributed by the Guangzhou Museum to the present exhibition are drawn entirely from archaeological finds in the last thirty years, including some latest materials as yet to be published.
Excerpt from the introduction by Mayching Kao, Acting Curator, Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983: 'The exhibits from Hong Kong are primarily selected from the objects found in the Han tomb at Lizhengwu (Li Cheng Uk). These are supplemented by objects excavated in Guangzhou prior to 1949, including a selection from the former collection of Mr.Henry Yong. Focusing on the historical and cultural development of the Lingnan region in the Qin and Han periods, the exhibits demonstrate distinct local colour. And yet they can also serve as basis for the study of cultural relationship between Southern and Central China.'
