The present book emerges from an exhibition jointly organised by the Guangdong Provincial Museum and the Fung Ping Shan Museum, University of Hong Kong, held in 1985.
The aim of this book is to account for the ceramic finds excavated from the famous Tang and Song kilns in the province of Guangdong, China. Beginning with a map, which identifies the Tang and Song kilns in Guangdong, the book includes three learned and illustrated articles by renowned authors, such as Gu Yunquan, Yang Shaoxing and Zeng Guangyi, all of which complement each other in the study of the development of Tang and Song ceramics, their export and their particular characteristics. The catalogue presents more than 100 entries, all of which are illustrated, classified and sometimes accompanied by a schematic drawing showing the reconstitution of the piece. This publication is essential for all of those readers who wish for a greater interpretation of the ceramic production of the region to which they belong.
